The nation's weather By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS Mild temperatures Wednesday stretched across Rocky Mountain and East Coast states for a change, but that brought problems also flooding in the Pacific Northwest and fog in the East. Dozens of families fled homes in Washington and Oregan, and many roads were closed. Light showers and fog the result of a "temperature inversion" stretched along the Gulf Coast and along the Eastern Seaboard, hampering motorists and air travelers.
Elsewhere, showers dampened the lower Texas coast. New England recorded temperatures in the 30s and 40s, while southern Florida warmed into the 80s. But wintry weather clung to the Great Lakes region and the northern Plains. National weather data Temperatures indicate high Denver and low for Wednesday to 7 Des Moines p.m. CST.
