The Sun Herald's policy governing obituaries may be reviewed at Coast funeral homes and The Sun Herald news department. 000 Ethel Galaida Stevens 0 Ethel Galaida Stevens, born in Perth Amboy, N. on April 25, 1910, as one of five children born to Joseph J. and Rose Galaida, died Wednesday, March 16, 1994, in San Antonio, Texas.
In 1933 she graduated from the New Jersey College for Women, which is now part of Rutgers University. She married M. James Stevens in June of 1933. After World War II, they moved to Shreveport, and in 1948, they moved to the Mississippi Gulf Coast at Gulfport, where they owned and operated a restaurant and motel until 1979. Mr.
Stevens was very active in community services and politics in the area, and Mrs. Stevens assisted him in the operation of the restaurant and the motel. They READER enjoyed traveling and trying out the restaurants in all the areas that they visited. Mrs. Stevens was always known to be cheerful and full of fun.
Mr. and Mrs. Stevens moved to San Antonio in early 1988. She was preceded in death by her husband, M. James Stevens, who died on June 4, 1990.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, James C. and Melodia Stevens of San Antonio, and Robert H. and Martha Stevens of Claremore, Oklahoma; grandchildren, James Stevens and his wife, Twila, of San Antonio, Susan Sweet and her husband, Leland, of San Antonio and Thomas F. Stevens of Austin, Texas; two great-grandsons, Benjamin James Sweet and Albert James Stevens; two sisters, Helen Tetley of Cory, N.C., and Louise Lanahan of Rahway, N.J.; a niece, Marylin Honrath, and numerous other nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Friday, March 18, 1994, at 6:30 p.m.
at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North, 3401 Cherry Ridge Drive, with the Rev. Dr. Ralph Seiler officiating. Mrs. Nancy Amacker Bodie Mrs.
Nancy Amacker Bodie, 81, Bennett Street, Picayune, died Friday, March 18, 1994, in Bay St. Louis. Mrs. Bodie was a native of Buck Branch and was a retired executive housekeeper for L. O.
Crosby Memorial Hospital in Picayune. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Picayune. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Katherine Woodward of Palmetto, a brother, Harvey Amacker of Poplarville; two grandchildren; and two great Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 9 at McDonald Funeral Home in Picayune. Bethel Cemetery in Poplarville. Mrs. Mae Brewer Copeland Mrs. Mae Brewer Copeland, 77, of McComb died Saturday, March 12, 1994, in Suches, Ga. Mrs.
Copeland was a resident of Biloxi from 1984-1988. She was preceded in death by her husband, Montgomery P. Copeland. Survivors include two daughters, Peggy Shea Patterson Bishop of Memphis, and Glenys McAllister Kersey of Suches; two sisters, Mildred Berberette and Rachel Boyd, both of McComb; a stepson, M. Patrick Copeland of Columbus, Ohio; three grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
A graveside service was held Wednesday, March 16, 1994, in the Hollywood Cemetery in McComb. Hartman Funeral Home in McComb is in charge of arrangements. Jack Curl Jack Curl, 78, of Ocean Springs died Thursday, March 17, 1994, in Ocean Springs. Mr. Curl was a member of St.
Paul United Methodist Church in Ocean Springs and was a former resident of New Orleans and Manila, Philippines. He was retired from Lykes Bros. Steamship Co. of New Orleans after 40 years. While in the Philippines, he served as the Far East director for Lykes.
He returned to New Orleans as an executive for the company. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Ocean Springs, a Shriner and the former president of the Junior Chamber of Commerce in New Orleans. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Esther Curl of Ocean Springs; a daughter, Shelley Rucker of Williamsburg, a son, Jack Walter Curl of Ocean Springs; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be today from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Ocean Springs. A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. today in Crestlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Ocean Springs. Mr. Elliott was preceded in death by his father, Jack Lindsey Elliott. 'Pete' Williams Elroy T. "Pete" Williams, 61, of Hot Springs, died Monday, March 14, 1994, in Hot Springs. Mr. Williams was born Nov. 4, 1932, in Perkinston.
He was retired from Reynolds Aluminum. He was a member of Taylor's Chapel Mission-, ary Baptist Church in Malvern, Elks Lodge No. 380, Rockport Masonic Lodge No. 58, and the Arkansas, Thoroughbred Breeders and Horsemans Association. He 1 raised several winning thoroughbreds and was the recipient of the Arkansas Thoroughbred Breeder of the Year Award.
He was an Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his" father, Lamar Williams. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Ann Towe Williams of Hot Springs; three daughters, Devona Todd of Eagle Nest, N.M., Andrea Crawford Hot Springs and Shannon Phelps of Beebe, his mother, Eunice Williams of Perkinston; three sisters, Deloney of Perkinston, June Schloegel of Gulfport and Rita Shoemaker of Picayune; and six grandchildren. A service was held Thursday at Atkinson on Funeral Home in Malvern, with burial in Lone Hill Cemetery in Oak Grove, Ark. The family prefers donations to the American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society.
Leota C. 'Lady' Young Leota C. "Lady" Young, 84, of Bay St. Louis died Friday, March 18, 1994, in Bay St. Louis.
Mrs. Young was a native of Wilberton, and was a member of Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, James B. and Kate Naughton Young; her husband, Charlie Lemon. Young; a brother, James Crain; and a sister, Mary Barousse.
Survivors include two sons, Michael McVea Young of Springs, and Daniel Munday Young of Bay St. Louis; a brother, Tim Crain of Panama City, a sister, Mrs. Virginia Caruso of New Orleans; and three grandchildren.
