Description
OutRun is a racing game that allows the player to race across varied terrain in a readily available Ferrari, complete with a female passenger, over a series of short tracks.
Gameplay is viewed from just above and behind the car. The roads are full of sharp bends and hazards, contact with which can cause the car to roll and lose the player's time. On each section of track there is a fork in the road, allowing the player to choose which direction he or she wishes to go in. The player has to to complete five track sections in total, out of the fifteen in the game.

Subject: Classic Arcade Hit!!!
OutRun - an awesome racing game hit from my time. The graphics scenery was great to look at, it felt like you were the favorite, and you had a stunningly beautiful model by your side. This car game spoke to the male ego.
OutRun will always be one of my top favorites...

Staying on the road is a challenge with this one, but it's way fun. Sure it's dated graphically compared with the newer race car games out there, but the gameplay is every bit as good as some of those new games.

Subject: Really funm
I haven't fully figured out the game yet (for some reason after a couple of hours of play I peaked at about 1,500,000 and then my score began dropping). But it's a lot of fun.
I'm even a bit tentative on the things I think I've figured out. I think shifting gears speeds up the game play (but I'm not sure). Maybe I just haven't gotten far enough through the course to discover the need yet, but I don't know what the two "service" options are for.
My personal project is to work through the internet arcades games, writing about them as I go. I plan to spend a week playing this one. It might even be fun enough to put in my permanent retro game rotation to play periodically.

Subject: Arcade Love
So many fond memories of this great game! Sega had some of the best arcade games back in the day and this one is no exception. The graphics at the time blew me away as a child and that sit down cab that moved was awesome! The music selections in game are just perfect! One of the reasons I NEEDED a Sega Master System.

Subject: way fun back in the day - a little tough to play
this one was one of my favorites.
Either I just am terrible now, or the keyboard controls make it harder. I don't remember whether the original game had actual analog steering or gas pedal, or just "left-right" steering and "on-off" gas.
controls:
left and right arrows to steer
control is gas pedal
either return or space to shift gears.
brakes, who needs them?
The sound is a bit off - i think it's getting clipped somehow.
